Visit Wales' 5 Star Grade for this hideaway in Wales
- Nestling in a small wooded valley in a country lane this cottage has been totally refurbished, decorated and furnished elegantly and stylishly with great attention to detail ('Visit Wales' 5 Star Grade).
- A garden gate opens onto woodland with a path to the sea winding across a field and through National Trust owned woodlands bursting with bird life, carpeted in springtime with primroses, blubells, campion, wood anemones and wild garlic.
- A babbling brook borders the delightful sheltered and secluded cottage garden - truly a haven of peace and tranquillity on the edge of National Trust woodland.
Fly fishing
- A private lake, approx 3 miles away belongs to the owners of the cottage and fly fishing is available (limited to 2 rods at any one time - equipment not supplied). If you would like to 'go fishing' then please arrange direct with the owners at a cost of £8 per person per day.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel & Abermawr
- Stroll through the woods to the sand and shingle beach of Abermawr - Isambard Kingdom Brunel once had great plans to turn this into the West Wales terminal for the Great Western Railway and port for the Atlantic trade!
- The small house above the beach at Abermawr was once a telegraph hut. It was from this point that the first telegraph line was laid between Britain and America.
Fascinating North Pembrokeshire Coast
- The remains of a long vanished petrified forest can be seen at Abermawr and the pretty cove of Aberbach is good for seal spotting in September.
- Plenty of activities for everyone, fishing, swimming, cycling, walking through woodlands or on the coastal path which winds its way along cliff tops - wonderful views.
Mathry
- The hilltop village of Mathry nearby has a pub, (good bar food) woodturner’ s workshop and a church which is part of ‘ Saints & Stones’ - a tour of the Pilgrims Ways of Pembrokeshire.
Porthgain, The Sloop Inn, The Shed Bistro/Wine Bar & More
- This is a picturesque cove with the famous 'Sloop Inn', very popular for family meals and 'The Shed', an award winning Bistro. Stone Hall (French cuisine) near Letterston, award winning fish and chip shop ‘ Something’ s Cooking’ and The Harp in Letterson are all within an easy drive of this Wales hideaway.
Solva
- This is a quaint waterside village and with a harbour and quayside. It has a small selection of interesting shops, a gallery, a pottery and a choice of places to eat and drink. Do walk out to the headland to enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery. Solva Boat Trips operate MV Swift from the harbour to the north coast of Pembrokeshire. There is an abundance of wildlife to see. You might like to try a spot of fishing or take an evening cruise.
St Davids, Gwaun Valley & Tafarn Sinc
- Britain's smallest city with the magnificent Cathedral nestled at its heart. The village city is full of interesting & individual shops, galleries and crafts as well as a choice of places to eat and drink. Do book a memorable boat trip to the off lying bird islands.
- The Gwaun Valley is an exceptionally beautiful deep wooded valley highly regarded by geologists. It can be enjoyed at Llanychaer. Drive on a short distance to Rosebush and enjoy a meal at the historic and award winning Tafarn Sinc.
- Much to enjoy at this Pembrokeshire holiday cottage close to the sea.
